Huge Amethyst Porcupine! We discovered this Uruguayan beauty during our Tucson Gem & Mineral Show travels - an oversized mound totally blanketed with gorgeous amethyst crystals. Resting on a thin, flat natural matrix, you'll see a kaleidoscope of purple hues from any direction - 360 degrees of radiant, shining quartz points. Interestingly, numerous shades of the purple family are represented here, from light to dark, almost clear to reddish purple, with the paler shades often at the base of the points. The color intensity increases toward the tips, leaving a pleasant perception of an amethyst with depth. Dress up or dress down --- this fine piece would look equally fabulous in either the most elegant of settings or more casual venue.
