Amethyst Quartz Stalactite Cluster

Mined in Uruguay, this stellar stalactite is not your typical amethyst, either in shape OR color.  Millions of years ago, slowly seeping water left deposits of minerals on a cavern roof which eventually formed into these long, beautiful stalactite crystals that still rest in their original geode bowl.  Another left-behind mineral added tiny golden-brown rutile inclusions - everywhere!  These inclusions, along with a subtle shade of purple, emit an overall color effect that is sort of dusty gray-taupe, with a hint of mauve (hard to describe!).  Sometimes referred to as Cactus or Porcupine Quartz (not to be confused with Spirit Quartz from South Africa), these prized stalactites, unique rutile inclusions, and one-of-a-kind coloring equal an A+ mineral specimen!
