Welcome to The Gem Quarry website! Chris and I are so pleased to have this opportunity to share our fabulous gemrocks with you. Although Chris's main interest is his long-time business Scheller Financial Services, Inc., he is a "rock and mineral convert", and thoroughly enjoys our gorgeous crystal and mineral displays - which have even crept into his own off-location office decor! While I am the gemologist of our partnership, he is the geologist - a perfect match! Of course we take off on buying trips together, and hope to be able to try our hand at digging quartz one of these days. Until then, we will continue to search out high quality and affordable rocks, minerals, crystals and jewelry for your shopping pleasure. Remember the lyrics from “Hair” (that 70’s musical hit)? Words like high and low, noon and night, long beautiful hair, shining, gleaming, flow it, show it, long as God can grow it - my hair? Well, substitute “crystal” for “hair”, and that’s me! I’ve been admiring and acquiring them for years, and love being surrounded by beautiful rocks, minerals and crystals (not to mention my many memorable forays into the metaphysical and spiritual aspects of minerals) I adore flowers and animals, too – all parts of nature’s generous bounty.
Even at that, my terrific career adventures have previously been elsewhere, stretching from teaching in an elementary school and office administration in the health field to brokering lumber, auctioning National Forest timberland and living a season on a fire lookout tower. It wasn’t until this decade that I have had the grand good fortune to return to my first love – the mineral kingdom.In 2003, I completed the required educational curriculum at GIA (Gemological Institute of America) to receive my Graduate Gemologist (G.G.) certification. These days I purchase crystals, display them, study them, carry them around, and some days even talk to them. They’ve been in our garden, on our patio, and always have a place of honor in our home (an entire loft is devoted to our crystal companions). Being an online entrepreneur with a business that is also a hobby is an ongoing dream that I get to live daily. I love the fact that rocks, minerals and crystals can be as simple or complicated as one wants them to be. Every home should have one! Are you looking for an Objet d’Art for your grand foyer? Can do.
