Calcite Sphere

Very Cool Calcite!  Clear calcite, by nature, has perfect cleavage in 3 directions - often rendering it a challenge to cut and sculpt this flat layered mineral into a round shape.  But one dedicated, talented artisan took this "Madagascar Clear" and formed an asymmetrical but incredibly gorgeous sphere.  In person, this sphere gives the illusion of having high clarity, but closer inspection reveals very "Picasso-like" cleavage planes throughout.  And the rainbows from these flat planes, well, they are just astounding.  If you have never seen one of these spheres, you must give this one a try!
