A Recordkeeper, Too! This hunky Amethyst Cluster is quite unique, and not the usual Amethyst chunk. Firstly, check out the large centerpiece Point with a translucent tip! In fact, almost every termination is translucent - a real plus! After that, note the white/purple color banding from base to tip (with dots of Black Manganese scattered throughout). White Quartz covers the very thin matrix base, followed by a horizontal band of soft purple Amethyst, another band of white Quartz, with the terminations saturated in the same soft purple! This color banding, combined with the crystal formations around the sides, has a slightly Mexican Calcite look (at least to me). Very cool.
But the creme de la creme is the etched triangle on a facet of the sizable main point, a clear indicator of this crystal's Recordkeeper status (elusive to photograph, but it's there). I'm willing to bet there's more than one, but I'll let you do the search and discovery! Recordkeeper Crystals crop up in Clear Quartz from time to time, but you don't often see them in Amethyst. All in all, I'd say there's much more to this Recordkeeper Amethyst than meets the eye. And as a decor' piece, this versatile centerpiece Amethyst will turn heads anywhere! After all, this is a 9 lb. hunk of Amethyst Quartz Heaven! Brazil.
